An Uplifiting Experience for Homeless Youth
The Homeless Youth Transitional Living Program staff and participants spent a beautiful August day volunteering at the Lewiston Balloon Festival. They wanted to do more volunteer work to help the community and this seemed like a perfect opportunity. They arrived before the sun at 5:00 a.m. and were part of the security crew who made sure that spectators were safe from trucks speeding off to chase balloons and shifting balloons as the wind increased.
Zail Berry, MD, MPH, and Dolly Fleming join PACE Vermont
Dr. Zail Berry stepped into the role of full-time medical director and primary care physician at PACE Vermont on August 16. PACE is a healthcare program that helps older adults stay independent in their own homes and communities. It receives administrative and funding support from Volunteers of America Northern New England and On Lok.
“Love Letters” from Camp POSTCARD
Camp POSTCARD managers, staff, and volunteers were the delighted recipients this year of “love letters”—exceptionally generous donations that will help strengthen the camp (and its ability to help at-risk children) for years to come. “We’re enormously grateful for the assistance we’ve received,” says Jacob Roberson, Director of Fundraising for Volunteers of America. “People’s United Bank and our other donors are helping change the lives of hundreds of Maine 5th and 6th graders. It’s a true blessing.”
